A Day in the Life of Summertime Northern Virginia

By June 5, 2023 No Comments

There are few places as glorious in the summertime as the areas around Great Falls and McLean in Northern Virginia. Connecting with Mother Nature is a must this time of the year, and this area doesn’t disappoint.

In fact, a great way to start your day is at Seneca Park Potomac Heritage Trail, right in Great Falls. You can center yourself with a brisk morning hike in any of the park’s many trails. An outstanding route to the Potomac River is on the orange-blazed Seneca Connector Trail. The trail is less than a mile and crosses over a small picturesque stream. Once you reach the river, follow the Potomac Heritage Trail, either west or east. At the western end of the park, you’ll find benches for relaxing and a stone wall of the Patowmack Canal. The canal was created by George Washington to help connect a new nation through trade and commerce.

Now that you’ve gotten your steps in for the day, it’s natural to think about some food. You can find some delicious snacks and meals at the McLean Farmers Market. Delight your taste buds with fresh produce, local delicacies and artisanal crafts. With you hosting the neighbors for brunch later this morning, you pick up premade quiches, asparagus and fruit for a salad – all super fresh.

You waste no time in getting home to get those quiches cooking to host your neighbors for brunch. This monthly tradition started when you moved into the community and you’re excited to be hosting your new neighbor friends in your spectacular Artisan Builders forever home.

After a fun and lively brunch, you head to the Alden in McLean. This cultural gem offers a diverse range of artistic experiences, including today’s jazz performance. You’ll spend the next couple of hours enjoying the mesmerizing melody that echoes through the room

After the performance, it’s a quick drive home to get ready for an impromptu date night at Red’s Table in Reston for some nice casual food and drinks right on the shore of Lake Thoreau.

With its harmonious blend of natural wonders, cultural endeavors and culinary delights, Northern Virginia offers a treasure trove of experiences to revel in during the summer months. Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast, history buff or art aficionado, these neighboring towns have something to captivate every soul. Embrace the summer splendor and embark on an unforgettable journey through the charms of Great Falls and McLean, Virginia.
